Breast Reduction

Bigger isn't always better!

Breast reduction, or breast reduction mammoplasty, is undertaken to reduce the size and weight of large breasts. This is a surgical procedure where the nipple is either removed completely and replaced on the reduced breast as a skin graft, or the nipple is retained on a pedicle (skin flap) and repositioned on the reduced breast.

Another form of breast reduction is called "scarless" breast reduction and is performed using liposuction. The advantage of this approach, if it is applicable, is that recovery time is enhanced significantly. See the "Individual Plastic Surgeon's Sites" category below for more info.

Of particular note in this category of breast modification is the need for male breast reduction. The condition is known as Gynecomastia. Men with this condition can find more information about this condition below under the "Male Breast Reduction" section.
