Breast Augmentation:
Breast augmentation, or breast implants, come in two varieties based on their chemical composition:
- Saline
- Silicone (two variants):
- Responsive Gel (traditional)
- Cohesive Gel (newer technology)
Both the saline and silicone variants come in either a pre-filled state, or non-filled. The non-filled type is "inflated" with silicone gel or saline after the implant's shell is in place.
Both types are implanted surgically through an incision. There are four possible incision locations:
- Transaxillary (transax or armpit incision)
- Areola (nipple incision, peri-areolar incision)
- Inframammary fold (crease incision)
- TUBA (transumbilical, belly button, or navel incision)
